Sintez OKA commissioned a pilot unit for the production of propylene oxide by direct epoxidation of propylene with hydrogen peroxide (HPPO).

20180131_153928_1517402472296.jpg Himtek Engineering is engaged in the development of the existing business and actively   invests in new projects for promising marketable chemical industries. In this regard the   project for the production of propylene oxide has started.

 On February 1, 2018, Sintez OKA commissioned a pilot unit for the production of propylene   oxide by direct epoxidation of propylene with hydrogen peroxide (HPPO). The aim of the   project is to carry out resource tests of the catalyst, refine the regimes and parameters of   the process for the production of propylene oxide for the subsequent design and   construction of an industrial facility with a capacity of 2,000 tons. The launch of the pilot   unit constitutes the first step towards a large investment program to build a production of   propylene oxide with a capacity of 100,000 tons.

 Himtek Engineering’s technology of manufacturing propylene oxide features some   significant advantages over other methods of propylene oxide production. This is a one-stage environmentally friendly, energy-efficient process with a long catalyst life and what is more important this technology does not suppose the generatation of hazardous waste.

This would not be possible without close cooperation between Sintez OKA and the St. Petersburg State Technological Institute (Technical University). With financial support from Sintez OKA modern laboratories have been established to develop the process for the production of propylene oxide by the HPPO method on the Department of Oil and Coal Technology.
